loving Jesus is
a lot like loving Jesus
it’s not like loving flowers
or trees
or mountains
it’s loving the maker of
flowers
trees
mountains and
you
believing,
believing in Jesus,
is not like
leaving
it’s more like arriving
and never leaving
you’ll cry tears of
joy
you’ll cry tears of real sadness.
sadness,
because of His life’s path
and you will read of it.
they treated Him so poorly
(they will you too)
you will read that
someone you’ve come to love
someone gentle
was led away by
men holding clubs
He knew all things
He had said His piece
He had done His tasks
He had run His race
the rest was humanity and
its ways.
they killed Him.
it’s a simple as that
yet you know of Him
two millennia later
why is that
yes
tell me why
(long pause)
let me tell you then
He was God among us
and if you are drawn near to Him
like the ground draws the fallen apple
go to Him
if you will “not” fall,
you will rot.
die.
“you,”
will end.
while from Jesus is
life
and life forever
when you shiver and
when you shake
when you quake and begin to move
you will know His voice is calling
it is like no other
He is so gentle
so bright
so beautiful
so caring
so strong
so true
and in the sound, you will
hear your name
some ask why, again, is it that He died or
had to
so that you might have peace
in this world of swirling madness
but
the first order of business is your feelings of guilt
you have them (if you don’t then bionic you are)
that blood you’ve heard of
it cleanses your soul
erases the guilt
lightens your load
brings you into a land of understanding grace
once you believe in Him
so
do
and that rising you’ve heard of
the rising from His death and burial
that is your sealing
your healing
so
live with us
forever and
you will rise too
